About
The Ordem dos Engenheiros (Order of Engineers) was created on 24 November 1936. It is the public-law professional association that represents engineers in Portugal and alone awards the professional title of Engenheiro: registration is mandatory to practise the profession.
It is independent of the State and organised in regions, with district delegations. The Centre Region is based in Coimbra and has district delegations such as the one in Aveiro. The Order covers every field of engineering, in 17 specialty colleges and 33 specialisations.
